We are currently looking for an excellent senior lawyer who will be primarily responsible for the legal set-up as well as advising on finance and general contract law in connection with TALARIA, a newly established, technology, data and AI driven business model. Given the global mandate and strong growth ambitions, this will require the handling and rapid assessment of highly complex legal issues and questions in the context of German, Irish and international law.
You will work independently in an interdisciplinary manner out of Munich Re’s Group Compliance & Legal team while at the same time being closely connected as an integral part of the business team.
The role requires the profile of a legal generalist who can combine its profound professional experience and a broad knowledge of different areas of law with the detailed understanding of the business needs and is able to transfer the results in an easy understandable manner.
You will join our Regulatory & Commercial department in Munich as part of Munich Re’s central division Group Compliance & Legal which is reporting directly to the CEO. The department is responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice in the areas of regulatory and commercial law, in particular investment management, finance, general contract and commercial law and furthermore insurance supervision, anti-trust and competition law. Our clients are other central divisions such as Group Investment Management, Corporate Procurement, IT, as well as operational business units including new business models, and affiliates across the Munich Re Group.
Your Job
- Subject matter expert and advising on legal issues and options around new business models and digitalization in the area of receivables finance / trade finance and trade credit insurance
- Evaluation, and definition of the set-up of transnational corporate structures
- Negotiations with distribution partners and partners for administrative tasks such as banking and debt collection for the factoring business across Europe
- Negotiating and establishing novel partnerships and collaborations in the areas of finance transactions
- Selection, oversight and steering of external advisors, such as local law firms
- Drafting and providing comprehensive legal advice on new business models and contract matters, such as cooperation agreements with strategic business partners, service agreements, procurement and outsourcing matters, intra-group agreements and other non-insurance contracts, including their negotiation
- Comprehensive structuring and steering of projects in cooperation with colleagues from the national and international legal and compliance community as well as with business owners across Munich Re Group, including legal advice to senior management and legal project management
- Active monitoring of relevant legal changes, assessment of their impact on Munich Re and its business and advice in developing processes and solutions to address these changes
Your Profile
- Qualification as lawyer with two German state examinations passed with distinction (vollbefriedigend) or an equivalent qualification in another European jurisdiction or the US
- Excellent, fluent German and English language skills; experience abroad and an LL.M. or similar qualification is a plus
- At least three years relevant professional experience in a top tier law firm or an international company
- Experience with institutional investors is an advantage
- Holistic and generalist approach to legal questions, willingness to develop expertise in new legal areas, proven by several years of professional experience in at least some of the requested areas
- Strong understanding of business issues; highly driven to turn vision into reality with strong solution-oriented / can-do attitude and proven analytical problem-solving skills; creativity in developing pragmatic solutions
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a high degree of uncertainty; high level of flexibility and stress tolerance; target driven and self-organized
- High social competence and team player
- Excellent communication, wording, negotiation and decision-making skills
