Contract: full-time/ part-time, initially fixed-term for 2 years followed by the option of a subsequent employment contract with an infinite duration

In our secondary school about 450 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams. Our excellent academic results benchmarked against the International Schools’ Assessment and the IGCSE and IB Diploma international examinations, are proof of the quality education we provide at Leipzig International School. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
Your tasks and responsibilities
  • Create a safe and stimulating learning environment in which the students can discover and develop their intellectual, physical, social and creative potential
  • Promote the motto of our school “learning to be a citizen of the world”, so that students develop the skills to think and act with openness to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals, cultures and communities, and thus develop an international understanding
  • Collaboratively plan, adapt, deliver and assess work for your students in parallel with your grade team partners and specialists
  • Deliver relevant, current and challenging lessons that will allow students to see how the subject you are teaching them will help them become citizens of the world who can make a difference
  • Provide authentic, formative feedback through which your students can improve their skills, knowledge and understanding plus develop their higher order thinking
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with parents to keep them informed about class activities and their child’s achievement and progress as well as options beyond our secondary programme
  • Develop best practice in the secondary school through sharing expertise, experience and resources
  • Work as a contributing member of the secondary school to ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place and delivered uniformly
  • Work as a contributing member of Leipzig International School to ensure a cohesive approach to learning
Your profile
  • A University degree in Science with specialisation in biology or chemistry
  • Valid Teaching License
  • High competency in written and spoken English
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills as well as the use of IT and new technologies
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Proven ability as an excellent teacher
  • Experience of working in an internationally-minded and diverse school community is preferred
  • Experience with an international curricula is preferred

About us
Leipzig International School gGmbH is a non-profit, independent educational institution that operates a kindergarten as well as an all-day school with a primary school with integrated after-school care and a secondary school. At present, nearly 1100 students from local and international families study at our institution from the age of one until they reach university entrance qualifications. The teaching language is English. German is taught as a compulsory subject.
