Role Description

Objective: 

Sr. Director Market Access Strategy  will be responsible for serving as a strategic partner in leading the development and implementation of  brand specific market access strategies and tactics.  This includes all aspects of commercial and government contracting and prcing.  This position will report directly to the VP of Market Access and will have key responsibilities for supporting the construction of our Market Access Value Platform as well as providing strategic insight, support and project management for key operational initiatives. The position will work closely with the US and Global Teams on a variety of Market Access activities impacting the organization.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical leadership in developing brand planning and strategy across multiple payer segments.

  • Contribute to the US input into Global Market Access strategies including global launch and pricing strategies, input into clinical program designed to assess reimbursement impact and HEOR initiatives.

  • Lead the development and execution of payer value message platforms across Brands both existing and investigational/future launch possibility.

  • Oversee, Develop, train and implement the necessary promotional tools, reimbursement/formulary pull-through and quality initiative programs that support account teams efforts with key customers.

  • Develop working partnerships and collaborate across Marketing, Sales, Global Market Access, Finance, Legal and other functional teams in the development and implementation of novel tools/resources aligned with franchise goals ensuring commercial success.

  • Manages Agencies to deliver tools/tactics/resources to ensure tools/programs meet expectations and delivered on time and within budget.

  • Manages contracts and other agreements with third party vendors from contract development through fulfillment and payment.

  • Working closely with evidenced based medicine (EBM/HEOR) and market research to identify and analyze trends and/or changes which will influence market access now and in the future.

  • Work cross functionally to creating actionable analytics at the plan and geographical level.

  • Oversee creation of payer materials for an unbranded disease awareness campaign.

  • Developing branded tactics for pull through activities.

  • Managing Alliance vendors/agencies as needed, including the development of RFPs, review, selection and milestones achievement towards contract deliverables.

  • Working cross-functionally with the head of Payer Analytics to create actionable analytics at the plan and geographical level as well as developing KPIs and metrics to assess impact of key payer initiatives”.

  • Directly manage the Payer Marketing budget and provide overall budget management oversight

  • Create an effective network within the Payer and Specialty Channel arenas.

  • Customize strategies based on Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and Specialty Channel demographics, legislation, and trends.

  • Develop and manage area account targeting strategy and objectives, as well as set implementation requirements. This includes the execution of brand value propositions, including clinical, quality and health economics positioning and product specifications.

  • Oversee area implementation of, and monitor performance against, strategic account management objectives/directives.

  • Perform other Payer sales and specialty channel projects and analytics as required.

  • Oversee special projects targeted at improving performance of Market Access Teams, strategies, tactics and operations.

  • Attend industry meetings and develop knowledge and relationships within industry associations for Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid channels.

  • Provide direct oversight relating to various payer advisory boards in support of on-going market research

  • Create an effective network within area Commercial Payer,Medicare, Medicaid and Specialty Channels.

  • Participate in coordination of overall Marketing and Sales strategies.

  • Lead the coordination of Market Access meetings as well as industry conferences and symposiums (PCMA, AMCP, Asembia, etc.)

  • Complete all company-based and job-related training as assigned by LEO Pharma within the required timeline.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; MBA preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within the pharmaceutical and/or health insurance industry; a minimum of 5 years in a strategic market access role including but not limited to:  payer strategy, contract strategy, pricing strategy, access strategy, payer marketing, account management or access analytics. 

  • 5+ years in management role leading teams.

  • Knowledge of US payer systems, evolving trends in health care including value-based purchasing, net cost and rebate driven customers, evidence-based medicine, and quality measures.

  • Excellent communication skills with experience in presentations to managed care industry customers, scientific organizations and medical/pharmacy associations.

  • Knowledge/understanding of market access trends, pricing, healthcare reimbursement, managed care customers and the distribution channels relevant to pharmaceutical/biotechnology organizations.

  • Familiarity with current legal and regulatory landscape pertinent to the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.

  • Ability to manage multiple and diverse product lines, customer segments, and levels of internal/external stakeholders; demonstrated ability to manage and pivot between products, customer segments and high stakeholder layers quickly, effectively and successfully.

  • Strong business management skills demonstrate an excellent understanding of marketing practices, with ability to develop and execute strategic plans, and understand and apply the fundamentals of financial management to perform profit and loss analyses to plan pricing strategies.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to gather, understand, evaluate information from various sources.

  • Product launch experience in specialty/biologics is highly desirable

  • Experience in specialty products channel and specialty product channel preferred.

  • Experience in dermatology is a plus.

  • Individual must possess the ability to build consensus in a matrix environment with multiple functional groups supporting the brand team.

  • Strong communication, project management and cross functional leadership skills.

  • Strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills.

  • Ability to travel approximately 20-25%.
