Site Manager – ENVEA Cambridge (Particulate and Flow Centre of Excellence)
ENVEA is a world class manufacturer of ambient, emission and process monitoring systems, with full turnkey capabilities. Our equipment and technologies encompass gas analysers, dust monitors, solids flow and moisture sensors, flue gas flow meters, and air quality monitoring networks, as well as environmental data processing and reporting solutions.

ENVEA’s Cambridge site is the centre of excellence for the development and manufacture of ENVEA’s range of Particulate and gas flow meters.

ENVEA has a long-standing presence in the UK market and is having R&D and production both within the Cambridge facility. There are two other ENVEA locations within the UK (through recent acquisitions) and soon, these locations will be brought together under the umbrella of one company in the UK. Each location will then develop its own identity within the given field of expertise in order to provide the group with products and solutions that should be best in class in their respective fields of expertise and market segments.

ENVEA therefore wish to appoint a Site Manager for the development and production site in Cambridge with currently about 80 employees.

The purpose of creating this role is to further support this location.

The Site Manager is required to have a background in management of production sites, a strong understanding of manufacturing, collaboration with R&D and suppliers as well as business management skills.

The Site manager will be required to communicate with colleagues from other ENVEA locations to share best practices. The Site manager reports directly to the Manufacturing Operations Director.

Purpose

The role of Site Manager Cambridge is to develop an effective site, focused on delivering products on time & budget. Liaison with R&D is required for the creation of new product innovations, the production and lifecycle management of equipment and solutions.

The Site Manager will promote a culture based around communication and interaction, guiding, supporting and inspiring local teams to operate as part of a global ENVEA team.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Manufacturing Operations Director

Duties

  • Providing leadership for the teams working on site.
  • Liaising with other ENVEA managers globally to understand current and future requirements for the product line.
  • Form a motivated team delivering good products and innovations
  • Build an environment of enthusiasm, teamwork, and a common vision
  • Be the company legal representative on site
  • Research and Development
    • Direct leadership of Manufacturing Engineering, acting as liaison between Operations and R&D.
    • Provide support to local R&D team.
    • Provide support and guidance to ensure R&D projects delivery and completion
  • Product Management
    • Contribute to product life cycle management
    • Drive product management in cooperation with the Group Head of Product Management and Group Head of R&D
  • Manufacturing Operations
    • Meeting production KPIs
    • Ensuring that products meet quality standards
    • Ensuring the availability of products produced at the site
    • Ensuring supply chain management, supporting local Supply Chain team and coordinating on priorities with Group Head of Supply and Sourcing
    • Monitor financial data and recommend solutions to improve profitability
    • Ensuring smooth operations at the site
    • Implement common practices and support Group improvement projects
  • Facilities management
    • Direct management of Facilities management team
    • Ensuring site remains safe, compliant with all company standards and local regulations, in excellent operating condition and suitable for Operations’ needs.
  • Quality management
    • Direct management of Quality management team
    • Ensuring site remains compliant with all company standards and local regulations
    • Supporting quality audits and liaise with certifying bodies as required
    • Promoting a continuous improvement culture, supporting site excellence and reputation
  • HR management
    • Liaising with local HR representative, and support staff development plans
    • Assisting in managing any HR issue where escalation is required
    • Promoting a great work environment and a people focused culture
    • Contributing and supporting employee’s development plans
    • Sponsoring local initiatives, and promoting the site as a place of choice to work at.
  • IT
    • Manage local IT requirements in line with Group guidelines and approved budget
    • Support site needs and compliance requirements
    • Ensure equipment availability and suitability, to support business development

Experience & Knowledge

This role may be suitable for applicants with a wide range of experience and knowledge.

Experience

  • Ideally experience in building instruments or equipment used in industrial process plants
  • Some years of experience in management of an operation
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in working with R&D departments
  • Experience in the interaction between development and production departments
  • Experience in dealing with external partners such as suppliers or inspection bodies.

Knowledge

  • Good technical understanding
  • Knowledge of certification processes, procurement and approval processes
  • A sense of market requirement and requirements of sales organisations

Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in in a technical course of study, business management or a related field.
  • Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Use of ERP system
  • Strong English language skills
