Description

We are hiring a Contract Manager in Munich to support primarily on contracts for international customers, responsible for providing strategic contract consultation to develop beneficial contracts for Steelcase and the Steelcase dealer network that minimize legal and business risks and foster growth and profitability. 

Part of the EMEA Pricing & Contracts Team. Supporting the Sales Organization and collaborating with experts and leaders from Sales, Pricing, Proposals, Credit, Finance, Legal, Order Fulfillment, Logistics.

What You Will Be Doing: 
  • Draft, review and assist strategically the Sales teams in the negotiation of sales agreements with key accounts (e.g. framework or project agreements with scope in DACH, EMEA or global).
  • Ensure a holistic and strategic approach for the Contract process in the DACH region, from creation and negotiation to contract execution and extension.
  • Development, review and adjustment of contracts already in the RFP (tender) phase in accordance with current company guidelines and mapping suggested solutions to the customer. 
  • Analyze contract terms and conditions to verify compliance with applicable laws and regulations, corporate policies and team guidelines and identify business and legal risks. Draft redlined recommendations, formulate risk mitigation and transfer solutions to minimize risks.
  • Provide and draft revision recommendations and support the sales organization in negotiations with the customers' Procurement or Legal departments upon request.
  • Providing consultancy on active contractual obligations, identify risks and problems and find alternatives that lead to practical solutions to meet the business challenges.
  • Participate in the implementation of strategic projects and supporting cross functionally other departments on a case-by-case basis in providing legal and business advice.
  • Coach and provide individual and team training to the sales organization on contract strategies and contract related topics (e.g. business and legal risks).
  • Collaborate with the pricing team to document the pricing terms of the contracts.
  • Contribute to processes and tools improvement initiatives, to enhance the visibility of contract terms within the organization and efficient management of the contract lifecycle.

You will be part of a globally distributed and culturally diverse team, focused on supporting the business in the region an around the globe. The EMEA Pricing and Contracts team members at Steelcase are located in Germany, France and Romania and they collaborate closely with their peers in North America and APAC. 

Who You Are:  
Required Skills and Competencies  
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in German and English mandatory. 
  • University Degree in Law, Business or related studies required. Very good knowledge of national and international contract law.
  • Minimum 5 years of contract management experience or legal experience with specific focus on contract review and negotiation.
  • Extensive professional experience in the areas of contract management or Contract evaluation of commercial risks or in project business, among other things as contract manager/legal advisor to the team.
  • Exposure to international legal and business environment.
  • Openness to international business environments and cultural diversity.
  • Strong analytical, influencing and negotiation skills; attention to detail; creative thinking and problem solving. 
  • Strong communication skills and good teamwork capabilities across functions and geographies (the teams are distributed across several countries and regions).
  • Client-focused mindset.
  • Hands-on mentality and ability to handle multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, good common sense and high curiosity.
Preferred Skills and Competencies 
  • Experience in the development and provision of IT infrastructure to ensure contract lifecycle is a plus.
  • Experience with contract workflow and contract life cycle management tools highly desired.
  • Ability to manage projects and conduct research.
