New Relic is looking for a new senior legal counsel with extensive experience managing corporate governance and compliance to join our dedicated, collaborative legal team! In this role, you will work with a worldwide team to support New Relic's corporate governance and compliance worldwide - across India, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. You will be primarily responsible for working with external advisors and counsel, as well as our internal finance and other teams, to ensure compliance with global corporate governance and regulatory requirements, offer legal advice on a broad range of matters, and build and implement scalable processes. We'll need you to have excellent communication skills to interact with both internal departments and external firms while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, and detailed manner. What you'll do
  • Work on a globally dispersed team within New Relic Legal primarily focused on corporate governance, corporate development, and M&A.
  • Collaborate with and support a wide variety of departments including finance and accounting, marketing, and stock administration.
  • Manage the administration of New Relic’s global corporate subsidiaries, including India governance.
  • Work closely with our finance team on equity administration.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing corporate communications.
  • Evaluate issues from legal and business perspectives with a practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to set, review, and improve policies and workflows for greater efficiency, collaboration, and risk management.


This role requires
  • 7+ years of corporate legal experience, which must include relevant time at a major law firm, with 2+ years of in-house experience (which may include secondments and in-house placements via alternative legal services providers).
  • Extensive experience advising on corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters
  • Excellent written, oral, and negotiation communication skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters.
  • Ability to work on your own and prioritize multiple, often competing deliverables while managing expectations meeting deadlines.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate effectively and gain trust and confidence with personnel at many different levels.
  • Ability to work as a team member of the legal department in a scalable, autonomous and accountable manner, demonstrating flexibility across matter types and time zones.
  • Patience, good humor, and the ability to give and receive feedback graciously.
  • Active bar license in good standing in the state in which you reside.



Bonus points if you have
  • Practice experience in the U.S., U.K., Singapore, or Australia, and secondary bar license in a U.S. or European jurisdiction.
  • Understanding of software development, design, or product management processes.
  • CIPP/E certification or similar privacy law experience
