We are looking to hire an Internal Communications Manager who can help take our internal communications to the next level. This exciting position sits within our Corporate Communications department and is based at Stahl’s headquarters in Waalwijk, the Netherlands.

 

What will you do as an Internal Communications Manager?

As an Internal Communications Manager, you will be responsible for worldwide employee engagement and alignment, by using our Digital Workplace MyStahl to its full potential. Your role will include developing and aligning internal communications strategies to ensure employees remain informed, engaged, and motivated.

The Internal Communications Manager reports to the Head of Corporate Communications while also spending a substantial amount of time working with internal departments to make sure their messages are well received by a diverse group of colleagues with vastly diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

Working closely with senior executives, you will develop clear and effective plan for leadership communications and keep staff up to date on key developments at Stahl, keeping in mind that Stahl has a truly diverse workforce which requires messaging to be tailored and well timed.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Establish an internal communications strategy together with corporate communications and senior managers.

  • Ensure the company’s principles are put into practice by the employees so that every employee is a true ambassador for the company.

  • Craft a (virtual) enrolment communication plan that supports the employee onboarding experience.

  • Drive Stahl’s bi-annual Employee Engagement Index.

  • Effectively communicate organizational initiatives and projects to employees and stakeholders.

  • Plan, edit, and write content for MyStahl, our Digital Workplace

  • Create consistency in internal communications messages across all media and for different departments while aligning with the company’s external communications.

  • Respond to feedback from employees and adjust communications content accordingly.

  • Advise senior executives of developments throughout the organization, either face to face or through regular written communication.

  • Initiate new activities to drive employee engagement, such as protocols for Townhalls and other internal events

 

Your experience and skills:

  • Approximately 10 years’ work experience in internal communications in a medium or large company.

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing is an advantage.

  • Experience in working with Digital Workplace system Unily is an advantage.

  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading skills and the journalistic ability to source stories from employees.

  • Strong verbal communication is essential: you are likely to be called on to give presentations to staff and relay information to employees in a style sensitive to Stahl’s goals and values.

  • The well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills needed to work with communications and HR departments. You also need the confidence to interact with senior executives and explain communication approaches to them.

  • Familiarity with IT (Information Technology) is essential, especially digital and video means of communication within a Digital Workplace.

  • An understanding of the chemicals sector or experience in a B2B company is an advantage.

  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

  • Fluency in Dutch is an advantage.
