Financial Controller

Your area of responsibility
We are hiring a Financial Controller to reinforce our Product Governance and Operations team within our AIFM based in Luxembourg. The team, in charge of daily management of the Luxembourg-based entities as well as implementation of the transactions, is currently composed of 4 persons and is expected to grow in the coming years in line with the managed portfolio. The work will require autonomous management of allocated tasks, while being supported and integrated in the team. Key areas of responsibility include:
 
  • Managing the existing investment structures
    • Acting as main point of contact for investments and portfolio management teams during holding period for all Luxembourg related aspects for an allocated portfolio of entities 
    • Ensuring smooth operations with external service providers including administrators, depositary agents and auditors
    • Responding to various ad-hoc requests related to investors’ demands and asset companies’ needs
    • Being involved in the organization of quarterly board meetings as well as ad-hoc meetings (e.g. for investments, capital calls, distributions) with board members and other stakeholders, and review of related minutes and resolutions
  • Overseeing the financials of the local entity
    • Overseeing and controlling the financial accounts and cashflows of the allocated entities (review of quarterly NAV packages and ad-hoc financial situations)
    • Controlling operating expenses based on contracts and budgets and instruct invoice and tax payments
    • Reviewing financial statements prepared by administrators
    • Reviewing tax compliance reporting prepared by external tax advisors
    • Being involved in the preparation of dividend distributions and capital calls
  • Facilitating smooth execution of new investments
    • Being involved in the preparation of transaction closing fund flows 
    • Participating in the examination of legal documentation prepared by inhouse corporate secretary and/or external legal counsel
Your skills and experience
  • 3-5 years of sector experience, ideally in an international environment, working with alternative funds (preferably infrastructure) in Luxembourg, as part of an audit/tax firm or fund administrator
  • Excellent academic background with completed studies in finance, accounting or similar 
  • Organized and rigorous with high attention to detail and accuracy; experience in project management is a plus
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking and ability of quickly becoming familiar with complex topics
  • Convincing personality with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Independent, pro-active, flexible and entrepreneurial action; therefore, self-motivating and with a positive, can-do approach/attitude
  • Proficiency in English is a must, knowledge of German, French or other languages is an advantage
