Meet Your Team: Playtime Supply
Playtime Supply is building a unique software solution for app and game developers that puts users’ needs first. Instead of traditional monetization mechanisms, Playtime builds an engaging ad experience in which users can play and earn rewards for various new mobile games in Playtime. To predict which mobile game will best suit a user, the team has introduced ML algorithms.
To build this rewarded experience, adjoe’s backend reliably handles more than 200 million users â€" remaining stable despite impressive growth in the user base. And imagine this: adjoe’s Golang event consumer applications assign rewards equivalent to 700 months of time spent in Playtime every day to its users.
The software depends on two main components.
1) adjoe’s Android mobile SDK â€" written in a combination of Java and Kotlin â€" which can be bundled by developers in their apps.
2) The team’s highly scalable Golang backend, which is hosted on AWS and is otherwise responsible for developing a modern React (TypeScript) dashboard that provides adjoe’s clients and Business team colleagues with fast-loading insights.
What you will do
- Contribute to the development of our backend written +99% in Go and maintain our microservice architecture used to communicate with our frontend (based on TypeScript React). To do this, you’ll use event buses like Kafka, SQS/SNS, and Kinesis in order to have reliable asynchronous microservice communication.
- Work in a community of developers with whom you’ll share knowledge and contribute to peer code reviews.
- Continuously search for ways to decrease the API response time for complex queries â€" we work with a few hundred terabytes of data.
- Support partners by providing them with raw or aggregated data based on their business needs â€" we believe in data transparency and well-documented open APIs.
- Collaborate with our Data Science team to solve complex math problems used to optimize our ML algorithms that are dedicated to delivering the right ads to the right users and integrate their solutions into adjoe’s application.
- Be responsible for collecting the billions of daily API events and aggregating them in our Kafka and Kinesis streams with the goal of querying them from the data lake in a matter of seconds.

Who you are
- You have gained 3+ years of experience working in software development.
- You are a technology nerd and are able to get involved in new, complex topics quickly.
- You have already built web applications in Go.
- You have knowledge about databases and a basic understanding of Regular Expressions, HTTP protocol and Encoding.
- You have experience working with infrastructure as code (Terraform), Docker and serverless infrastructure is a plus.
- You are open to relocating to Hamburg, Germany.
