THE TEAM
The Content Experiences product team is responsible for building remarkable consumer-facing features and marketable experiences to support Zalando’s vision of being the starting point for fashion and lifestyle. This Senior Principal Product Manager role will be part of the broader mission to build intelligent foundational services and imaginative products that both enable partners and drive further interest and loyalty with customers. The role will operate in a collaborative environment with Design, Engineering, and company-wide stakeholders, balancing the inputs and needs of many.
THE ROLE
As the Senior Principal Product Manager you will be responsible for the content experience on Zalando from setting the strategy and direction, to defining the product roadmap, executing the roadmap with your Engineering and Applied Science colleagues to working with commercial functions such as ZMS (Zalando Marketing Services) and local market teams to operate and shape the advertising experience onsite. Lead by example and mentor a small but high impact team of Principal product managers
WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
Spearhead and strategise: set a clear vision, smart roadmap and ambitious targets, and enable the team to drive towards those.
Evangelise your product vision to senior management and diverse stakeholders through deep content ad systems knowledge, customer research, hands-on data analysis, and product management industry expertise.
Identify new product opportunities with a customer-centric mindset: build the best possible content publishing platform for authors on Zalando.
Develop a shared understanding of the architecture and the technology of Zalando’s content products and collaborate with cross-organizational engineering teams to deliver success.
Contribute to team and company-wide product culture, sharing best practices, mentoring and providing training on specialised skill sets or expertise.
Lead execution plans with product managers across multiple teams moving quickly, focusing on customer needs, and driving operational excellence applying repeatable best practice product methodologies.
- Conduct hands-on troubleshooting and ensure timely resolution of issues for our customers. Define, implement, monitor a reporting strategy and perform analysis of complex scenarios and AB- tests, both systematically and on a one- off basis.
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
Product methods & tools: you have a strong track record of envisioning, developing and building successful platform and capability products, ideally in an online service marketplace or e-commerce environment. You are able to contribute to and explain a product strategy for your area.
Customer mindset: you have the ability to understand customer needs and turn them into remarkable products. You are experienced in conducting insights with user research and product discovery to provide the voice of the customer, creating the right stories that give our users what they need (and not just what they want). Affinity for fashion, beauty, and care domains and understanding of the industry is a plus.
Multiple domains: you have experience in working closely with cross functional teams in Design, Engineering, and Data Science. Experience working in advertising and programming is a plus.
Data Quality & Big Data: you have experience in handling big data and ensuring top data quality.
Platform Services & Multi Partner Solutions you have built/managed successful platforms and established multi partner solutions in various business domains.
