In our secondary school about 450 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams. Our excellent academic results benchmarked against the International Schools’ Assessment and the IGCSE and IB Diploma international examinations, are proof of the quality education we provide at Leipzig International School. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Director of Admissions plays a pivotal role in shaping the vision and systematic approach to admission, recruitment, and the transfer of students at Leipzig International School (LIS), ensuring alignment with the school's mission, vision, and values. This role involves overseeing student admissions, enrolments, and re-enrolments primarily within the secondary school, with a key focus on cultivating a more diverse and inclusive student body. Responsibilities include, conducting open days, school tours, and providing personalised guidance to families regarding the LIS educational program and potential pathways. The Director of Admissions evaluates the abilities and potential of prospective students through an examination of their previous transcripts, references, and the results of pre-assessment tests conducted at LIS. Based on these assessments and pre-consultations, a tailored educational program is formulated. This includes determining the optimal grade level, identifying necessary supporting structures, and assisting with subject choice selection to ensure each student's holistic development—academically, socially, and emotionally. Post-enrollment, the Director of Admissions maintains communication with students and families during the settling in period. Moreover, the Director of Admissions actively contributes to the strategic development of LIS by aligning admissions processes and decisions with the planned growth of the institution.
Your tasks and responsibilities

Admissions, enrolments and re-enrolments

  • Respond to all inquiries about the school, its educational programme and its admission requirements
  • Coordinate admission, enrolment and re-enrolment procedures
  • Meet prospective families and provide tours of the school, coordinate visits and organise taster days
  • Evaluate credentials of student applications for admission
  • Responsible for organising and coordinating assessment of prospective students within the admissions process
  • Work in collaboration with the various academic and inclusion teams to plan, develop and coordinate individual educational pathways, including services regarding language, learning or/and wellbeing to ensure students completing their education at LIS successfully
  • Ensure that families receive all the information required for a smooth start and that principals have all the relevant information about new students
  • Welcome new students on their first day of school and support them to settle-in quickly
  • Liaise with the parent association who will take over the care of new families to LIS community after their arrival at school
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding and settling-in process of new students
  • Follow-up with students and parents following a settling-in period to oversee students’ progresses, to evaluate the individually allocated education pathways and, if necessary, to implement adjustments accordingly
  • Cover the strategic and operational management related to the successful admissions, enrolment and transition of students through their education at LIS
  • Responsible to include developing and interpreting policies for admissions, enrolments and re-enrolments
  • Understand the financial aid plan for families that are not in the capacity to make full fee payments
  • Monitor, track and report on intake statistics
  • Cultivate relationships with local employers for whom LIS is an important factor in recruiting international families to Leipzig
  • Supports and implements strategic marketing plans and innovative communication strategies, jointly with the marketing and communications
  • Recommend new and /or revised policies and procedures in support of enrolment  management goals
  • Recommend process changes based on reports and analyses of enrolment trends
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Director of Admissions for Kindergarten and Primary School in case of temporary unavailability due to reasons such as illness, vacation, etc.

Communication
  • Remain informed about the school programme and day to day school issues (for example, by attending whole school meetings, parent evenings)
  • Promote inclusion and equity in education and communicate the values of the school to the community
  • Build up good relationship with students and their families
  • Work closely with other job functions in the LIS structure to improve overall admissions process services
  • Organise and run open days of the school
  • Represent the school at external fairs and events

Administration
  • Process all incoming online application forms and import data into electronic student data base respectively
  • Maintain all electronic student and parent data, prospective and enrolled
  • Ensure that all legal requirements on student files are met
  • Provide regular application and enrolment reports to the school management

  • Communication and reporting with German school authorities: Reporting of students on exact reporting dates
Your profile
  • University degree in Education
  • Proven professional experience in the administrative field
  • Strong Customer Service Skills and Presence
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and to prioritize work
  • Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function
  • Strong communication, reflection, feedback, empathy and intercultural skills
  • The ability to challenge situations and to change things for the better
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in the English and German language, further languages are seen as a benefit
