We are looking for an Underwriter Engineering Lines, Natural Resources (m/f/d), based in Cologne.

The Impact You Will Have

 Reporting to the Underwriting Team Leader, you will independently prepare underwriting processes within your own area of responsibility and expertise (with underwriting authority) and liaise with other functions to ensure timely/accurate policy administration.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

• Develop and maintain relationships with key brokers and clients as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g., risk managers)
• Acquiring new business and renewing existing contracts as part of the underwriting strategy and within the defined underwriting authority
• Negotiating prices and conditions with brokers and/or clients
• Preparation of relevant underwriting information including customer/market research and claims data
• Assessing and evaluating submitted risks
• Ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines in line with the LoB governance framework - e.g., Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles
• Calculations with global Allianz Commercial pricing tools and segment-related portfolio management, progress monitoring
• Organization of reinsurance
• Implementation and support of international insurance programmes in the global Allianz network
• Proactive involvement of different functional areas within the defined underwriting process (Allianz Risk Consulting, Operations, Claims, Reinsurance)

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Preferably a degree in economics, law or another suitable discipline
• Experience in the industrial segment of technical insurance 
• Comprehensive knowledge of the regional and international insurance markets in the technical insurance sector
• Good understanding of customer needs
• Very good knowledge of the individual lines of technical insurance and the portfolio, as well as their legal and regulatory framework conditions
• Sound knowledge of contract drafting (including negotiation and implementation of insurance law formulations)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English as well as negotiation skills
