Stellenbeschreibung

For many applications, there is an ongoing need to make use of higher frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum, which require technological innovations both for development of new products and for testing these products. Therefore, NXP Germany is engaging in the German part of the EU R&D program “important project of common European interest” (IPCEI) for microelectronics.

As part of this program, NXP will build a brand-new laboratory for high frequency technologies in Hamburg. The “THz Lab” will serve as a competence center to define and develop new concepts for test and validation of RF demonstrators, RF systems, and RF solutions in the sub-THz spectrum and beyond (frequency range ≥ 100GHz). The THz Lab will be a key player in supporting product development for the 6th generation of mobile communications (6G) within NXP.

Tasks:

Development of leading edge RF bench test equipment setup with automated and software controlled test environment

Compilation of test specifications, test plans and test instructions as foundation for creative test setups and efficient test solutions

Concept development, realization and improvement of system test solutions (Simulation, PCB design, Hardware, Software, Debugging, Automation)

Support the bring-up of the new Tera-Hertz-Lab (e.g. equipment selection & integration)

Designing, prototyping and building of demonstrators

Planning of test and validation jobs according to specification

Test/measurement data analysis and creation of result reports and presentations

Collaboration with external partners (Equipment suppliers, Universities)

Mentoring of working students

Maintaining records, documents and procedures to comply with ISO9001/IATF16949

Profile:

PhD / Master in physics or electrical/electronic engineering

Preferably 5 years of experience in a semiconductor engineering or development environment

Knowledge in high frequency radio communication (e.g. 5G, WiFi), measurement and test

Confident use in state-of-the-art bench measurement equipment and methods

Knowledge of RF/mmWave simulations and tools

Programming languages like Python, C++, MATLAB

IC design fundamentals

Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis tools

Quality mindset and insights into problem-solving techniques (e.g. 8D, FMEA, SPC)

Project management skills

Solution oriented and good analytical skills

Well organized and strong communication skills, fluent English (spoken and written)

Team player, happy to work in international and virtual teams

Willing to travel internationally (~ 4 - 8 weeks / year)
