Senior Microsoft Windows Server & SQL Administrator / Service Line owner (m/f/x)

As part of a team of international employees, you will maintain and support Microsoft SQL databases and also maintain Windows Servers for the entire SYNLAB Group (> 2500 servers) and develop sustainable solutions and processes.

Dedicated and highly skilled Windows Server and SQL Database Administrator with a proven track record of managing, configuring, and optimizing Windows server and SQL Database environments. Proficient in implementing security measures, ensuring system stability, and resolving complex technical issues. Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless IT solutions and provide excellent support to the stakeholders. This role is responsible for the management of service line teams of Database and Operating systems (windows and linux), ensuring the achievement of the SLA and KPI’s.

• Maintain and support Microsoft SQL Databases / Clusters
• Experience in SQL administration such as backup, restore, replication, HA, cluster, performance tuning
• Windows Server Management: Extensive experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Server operating systems, including Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019.
• Backup and Recovery: Expertise in configuring and managing backup solutions (e.g., Windows Server, SQL Databases) and implementing disaster recovery plans
• Implement and maintain Active Directory services, including group policies, and domain controller configurations.
• Analyze and troubleshoot of incidents
• Coordinate regular system updates, patches, and security audits for both servers and databases.
• Scripting and Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell to automate routine tasks and streamline administrative processes
• Troubleshooting: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving server and database-related issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring a reliable IT infrastructure
• Support in technical consulting services (architecture & design) when required
• Preferable have skills of Oracle Database, MySQL and PostgreSQL  see first line in “what you bring”
• You are responsible for the operational service lines “Databases” and “Operating Systems”. Service teams are located in Manila, Augsburg and Barcelona
• You will work close with other IT operations teams, ensuring smooth processes and knowledge transfers
• You will also analyze the increasing IT security requirements, implement necessary countermeasures

• Minimum 7 years of experience in maintaining Windows Servers and Microsoft SQL Databases
• At least 3 years of successful technical management of a team
• High communication skills, self-motivation and an independent and customer-oriented way of working complete your profile
• Working in an international environment and managing virtual teams is natural for you
• Very good German and English skills
