Project Manager* ‒ Electrotechnical Projects in Wind Energy

Who we are ...
Our primary focuses at Fraunhofer IWES are on wind energy and hydrogen technologies. Our institute is home to more than 300 scientists and employees as well as over 100 students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development at nine sites. We secure investments in technological developments through validation, shorten innovation cycles, accelerate certification procedures, and increase planning accuracy by means of innovative measurement methods. 
 

This team is looking for you...
You will join our »Power Electronics and Grid Integration« group at our site in Bremerhaven. Our work deals with the grid integration of wind turbines as well as wind farms and hybrid farms. At present, the team consists of four research associates and several students. We support each other irrespective of our projects and backgrounds. A culture of open exchange and cooperation, even beyond team boundaries and sites, are particularly important to us.

 

What you will do

These duties await you...
You will manage various industry and research projects, where you will be in constant dialogue with (inter)national customers and partners. For example, during the discussion and coordination of the test plan and the subsequent test execution on the test bench. While doing so, you will record new findings and results in scientific documentation and reports. In addition, there are also infrastructure projects for which you will manage and supervise the purchasing processes, among other things.
 

No two days at work are ever the same!
You will take on test bench duties as part of a work rotation and also support your team during the preparation of a test campaign on the test bench or the execution of a measurement campaign abroad with our mobile test system. You will also be involved in the test bench preparation for accreditation in accordance with DIN 17025. Furthermore, you will provide support with the acquisition of new projects and the compilation of tenders.

 

What you bring to the table

What is your specialist background?
You have completed your diploma or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Management specializing in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering? Do you also already have some project management experience and at least theoretical understanding in the fields of grid codes, power grids and controls, as well as power electronics? Perfect!
 

Your profile is complemented by...
Are you communicative and able to keep track of things, even when organizing large-scale projects? Do you enjoy designing new processes and improving existing ones? Great! Perhaps you have worked on test benches before and are familiar with the challenges that may arise. But do not worry if you don’t have all those skills just yet, you can also get your career off to a flying start with us. If you do already have experience, you can build upon it. Here at the IWES, we operate on an international level, so good English skills in addition to your German will make your day-to-day work easier.

The position is limited to 3 years. The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis, preferably close to full-time. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
