BioMarin’s investor relations’ (IR) team has direct input on company messaging and external communications strategy.  IR works closely across all BioMarin teams including, finance, legal, corporate communications, commercial, research and development and manufacturing, to ensure consistent, accurate messaging and open lines of cross-functional communication.  Come join our team and make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives.
Description:
You will be an integral part of the team partnering with the Group Vice President in the planning, development, and execution of the IR strategy at BioMarin.  Reporting to the GVP of IR, you will serve as a key member of the team to ensure that BioMarin effectively communicates its mission, value proposition and strategy to drive value creation for all stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the strategy and implementation of an IR program that is aligned with BioMarin’s key enterprise priorities and financial goals
  • Collaborate on messaging to educate the capital markets on BioMarin’s corporate strategy, execution, opportunity set and potential risks
  • Monitor, update and analyze sell-side financial models and valuation frameworks, following up with analysts as needed, to ensure alignment with BioMarin’s financial guidance
  • Accountable for tracking and providing feedback on changes to the shareholder base, investor sentiment, peer performance and capital markets trends
  • As needed, present to executives, employees and/or the Board on IR updates including, Wall Street sentiment and competitive landscape
  • Understand innovative and best-in-class IR strategies and tactics through peer and industry benchmarking
  • Prepare investor presentations, draft press releases, conference call scripts, messaging and Q&A documents
  • Work closely with the finance and legal teams to collaborate on quarterly materials to ensure alignment and accuracy for inclusion in SEC documents
  • Significant focus on investor targeting and tracking
  • Work closely with corporate communications to ensure alignment of PR schedule for updates outside of quarterly financials
Proficiency and Expectations
The ideal candidate must have prior experience in investor relations working with a publicly-traded bio-pharmaceutical or healthcare company.
Education and General Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree (MBA or other advanced degree preferred) and 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong communication, organizational and presentation skills, including writing and editing high-quality materials, as drafting of documents will be required
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining “executive presence” under pressure
  • Creative thinker with an ability to see the big picture, while paying close attention to detail
  • Scientific and financial background is a plus
  • Significant financial modelling experience and advanced PPT skills required
  • Direct biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry successfully managing (a majority of) the Investor Relations function at a public company
  • Highly motivated individual who has proven success in working independently within a fast paced, deadline-driven environment, with limited oversight
  • Confidence in communicating with sophisticated investors, company executives, the scientific community and the media 
  • Eventually, up to 25% travel depending on format/location of investor events

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 160,000 to $ 240,000 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
