Job Summary

The Commercial Marketing & Solution Strategy Manager will be responsible for developing and assisting to deploy multi-year strategic plan within the organization, growing “C” Suite relationships within utility industry with utilities, vendors, and legislative policy organizations. This individual will be responsible for supporting and advancing Irby’s Utility business objectives along with collaborating across all utility business segments. This includes all facets related to market trends, go to market strategies within commercial sales organization.        

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Commercial Marketing and Strategic Relations, the Manager will work closely with Executive Management, District Managers, and the Commercial teams to identify, qualify, and engage existing as well as new customers.
  • Identify and support target opportunities to present, propose, and implement Irby’s Solutions and Services to expand material supply and services to be transitioned into long-term contracts and alliance opportunities.
  • Conduct detailed research and analysis on market dynamics and emerging trends.
  • Provide both detailed and summary level presentations and reports to customers, partners, and industry organizations to support expanding services and solutions.
  • Draw conclusions and provide analysis from both internal and external data sources to support commercial and operational strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Media to highlight Irby’s offerings including but not limited to development of case studies, C-suite/Executive business reviews, industry group presentations or other opportunities to serve as subject matter expert to end-user audiences.
  • Collaborate and participate with commercial teams to identify new customer opportunities.
  • Support Marketing and Media in refining commercial messaging for end-user markets.
  • Develop and support commercial market strategies ensuring Irby is positioned to be the preferred service and solution leader withing electric, broadband, and gas utility provider market segments.
  • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams in Sales, Marketing, Business Advancement, Finance, and Operations to implement growth initiatives and contract implementation.
  • Positively represent and promote Irby Utilities’ unique solutions and service offerings while supporting both short and long-term growth initiatives as identified or designated.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data sets, financial reports, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, legal documents, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, customers, managers, employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal team members of diverse backgrounds using both in-person and remote work environments.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in order to solve practical problems where only limited information and standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Utility industry knowledge and understanding of market trends.
  • Prior customer service, business development, marketing, sales, or other relative experience to electric, gas, and/or broadband utility providers

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university; and three to six years of utility-related experience, training, and/or supply-chain or category/product management; or equivalent combination of education and experience
