Character Artist - Hard Surface Modeling (f/m/d)

Airborn Studios is a Berlin-based company focused on the development and production of 2D and 3D Game Art. Its founders have been working in the entertainment industry for over 20 years and tap into a network of international artists. Airborn has contributed to projects such as Blizzard’s Overwatch, Epic Games’ Fortnite, Activision’s Crash Bandicoot 4, Riot Games’ Valorant and Project L, Microsoft’s Halo franchise. The team is responsible for the visual design of Ori and the Blind Forest, for which it has received a BAFTA award, a D.I.C.E. Award, and a Game Developers Choice Award, among others.

About this job

In this role, you create character art assets from blockout to textured, game-ready assets for projects like Overwatch 2 or Valorant, combining your efficient hard-surface modeling and sculpting skills.

Your Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years experience of working as a Character Artist in AA/AAA game development using modeling software (Blender, Maya, or 3DsMax) and Zbrush for sculpting
  • Able to work in Photoshop for asset texturing pipeline as well as Substance Painter
  • Solid understanding of character creation pipeline in games, including iterative feedback processes
  • Strong focus on hard-surface modeling techniques with an eye for the more technical details; efficient non-destructive modeling, clean lowpolies and UVs, etc.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a good eye for shape, structure, colors, silhouette, anatomy
  • Experience or passion for the art style of Overwatch 2, Valorant or similar games
  • Excellent communication skills and team-player attitude
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

 

Other Requirements

  • Availability in Europe (CET) daytime work hours, +/- 3 hours
