The Exposure Solutions team is focused on the in-house development of “MAEX”, our next-generation solution for the exposure management, modeling and analytics of natural catastrophe and other accumulation risk exposure data. MAEX aims to provide workflow efficiency, enhanced data quality and the improved, automated generation of insights for underwriting as well as risk management and will ultimately lead to the retirement of the legacy tools.
To achieve this, the Exposure Solutions team works in an interdisciplinary agile project team together with IT and other units in Corporate Underwriting. It is embedded in the department Pricing, Systems & Analytics in Corporate Underwriting providing Munich Re’s reinsurance organization with state-of-the-art quantitative methods, tools and data.
Your Job
- Identifying and understanding the requirements in respect of cat modeling and accumulation risk management of the different stakeholders in central and business units
- Developing adequate, sustainable and future-proof concepts, methods, workflows and functionalities to be implemented by IT
- Taking the lead as feature owner for the end-to-end process from requirement definition, solution design, implementation, testing to change management
- Defining detailed data transformation and data flows, e.g. translating exposure or result data models
- Using programming skills to analyze large datasets, uncover bugs or to build proof of concepts
- Engaging in user support, especially in respect of difficult cases or special requests, as well as in user training, preparation of training materials and tool documentation for users
Your Profile
- Degree in natural / geo sciences, mathematics, or similar qualification with a strong quantitative focus
- In-depth understanding of exposure data, associated methods and workflows
- Sound experience in cat modeling and ideally also in underwriting
- Passion for the development of concepts and their implementation
- Proven track record of solving complex problems
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, solution focused
- Excellent team player
- Basic programming skills (SQL, Python and/or Matlab)
- Experience in project management (ideally in an agile IT-project)
- Good command of English and German
