Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Product Innovation, the Fertilizer Chemist/Scientist is responsible for developing, evaluating, and applying scientific principles and methods to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of our agricultural products (including fertilizer) and ensure sustainable agricultural practices.

 

This position is located at our Greeley, Colorado Wholesale Technical Center and is not available for remote work.

 

What you will do:

  • Investigate new technologies to advance the understanding of fertilizer chemistry, including the development of novel compounds, formulations, and delivery systems
  • Explore innovative approaches to optimize nutrient availability, release rates, and nutrient-use efficiency in fertilizers
  • Design and execute experiments to investigate the chemical properties, nutrient dynamics, and efficacy of different fertilizer formulations
  • Develop new fertilizer formulations that address specific crop requirements, soil conditions, and environmental considerations
  • Optimize fertilizer compositions and release mechanisms to maximize nutrient availability, minimize nutrient losses, and reduce environmental impact
  • Collaborate with industry partners or agricultural organizations to translate research findings into practical applications and commercial products
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements during research, development, and production of fertilizers
  • Provide technical expertise and support in obtaining regulatory approvals and certifications for fertilizer products
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory procedures, experiments, and results.
  • Prepare reports, technical documents, and presentations summarizing research findings, product development, and quality control data
  • Effectively communicate technical information to colleagues, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in: Agricultural Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agronomy, or Soil Sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience required, preferably in Biochemistry and/or Agriculture industries
  • Extensive knowledge of chemistry, biology, soil, and plant sciences
  • Knowledge of soil interactions and polymer degradation in soil will be considered an asset
  • Ability to assess the environmental impact of fertilizers and develop strategies to provide recommendations for sustainable fertilizer application practices that minimize environmental risks while maximizing crop productivity
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data, present research findings to diverse audiences, and collaborate with other scientists to develop new products or processes
  • Experience working with farmers, agricultural suppliers, and regulatory agencies; ensuring that their products are safe and effective

 

Salary Range for this role is $92,800.00 - $127,600.00. This range is estimated for Fertilizer Chemist/Scientist under the Colorado Equal Pay for Work Act. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our plan(s), which provide discretionary award opportunities reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
