Software Architect - System Functions/LifeCycle (f/m/x)

We design and implement embedded software for electronic control units of the BMW cars as well as related tools and frameworks. By delivering software all the way from the idea to the final product we lead BMW into the future of digitalization and mobility.

We offer you the chance to take up a leading role in automotive software development. As the responsible software architect in the area of system functions and lifecycle management you will be designing the Linux-based software platform for our next generation control units.

What awaits you?

• You define, document, and promote your software architecture design within the project.
• You contribute hands-on to software development activities (e.g. Proof-Of-Concept implementation, system configuration contribution/review).
• You are responsible to ensure that stability, performance, security, and reusability aspects are always considered.
• You evaluate the impact of different software solutions on the overall system design.
• You identify dependencies and drive technical requirement clarifications within the community ensuring a consistent end-to-end solution.

What should you bring along?

• University degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification.
• Previous experience as a Software developer (e.g. C, C++, Rust, Java…).
• Deep architectural knowledge of Linux or Android based embedded systems.
• Significant experience working hands-on with embedded software products.
• Some practical knowledge of virtualization technologies and/or containerization is a plus.
• Good business English mandatory, German language skills are a plus
