Working within the ADAS Sustainable Agricultural Systems Business, this role will be working on scientific projects for clients, including Government, and some of the most progressive and successful UK and internationally based businesses, focusing on efficient food production and related environmental issues in a sustainable industry. Field delivery for the successful applicant will specialise primarily in Crop Physiology and Pathology areas of the business but will be expected to develop skills and knowledge across the whole team, contributing to a suite of research projects across both agriculture and horticulture, involving crop Physiology, Pathology, Soils and Nutrients, Entomology and Weeds, embracing a “one team” ethos.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver practical research for a range of agricultural and horticultural crops, working predominantly in the discipline of pathology, but also contributing to physiology, entomology, soils and nutrients, and weeds.
  • Develop specialist technical expertise to deliver on-site trial work and implement applied research and knowledge exchange.
  • Delivery of field/glasshouse/polytunnel/laboratory work and liaise with clients and colleagues to ensure on time delivery.
  • Work towards managing projects ensuring key objectives and deadlines, are met, ensuring high levels of scientific credibility and client satisfaction are achieved
  • Develop a sound and effective working relationship with colleagues, collaborators, and the industry to grow the business.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • The suitable candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to work, with inhouse and external training provided to meet the requirements of the role.
  • A full driving licence to drive manual vehicles in the UK is essential.

What will you be doing as our new Process Engineer?

As our new Process Engineer within WNI, you’ll work in collaboration with the project design team to arrive at appropriate process solutions adopting the principles of optimised plant performance, use of standard designs and following @one engineering design standards.

Key responsibilities:

- Undertake process design of Water Treatment Plants and water systems that achieve the goals of Anglian Water in terms of customer, environment, and efficiency. Be responsible to produce technical deliverables required these include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical schedules and data sheets.

  • Engineering calculations (hydraulic calculations, pump calculations, mass balance calculation etc.).

  • Particular specifications for engineering subcontracts.

  • Working closely with the supply chain and performing technical bid analysis of their designs.

- Oversee key outputs including process calculations, hydraulics, unit processes, pump calculations, capacity calculations, data sheets and technical bid analysis of 3rd party process equipment.

- Communicate effectively at all relevant levels to ensure that the need to deliver technical excellence is understood and implemented.

- Escalate issues that may impact on time/cost/quality before they become problems or exceed agreed timescales.

The apprenticeship combines part-time study with the University of Kent with on-the-job learning.

Key Responsibilities & The Apprenticeship:

  • As a social researcher you’ll work with clients across central and local government, regulators, charities and the third sector to design, implement and analyse research projects
  • You’ll be involved in all stages of the research process and get the opportunity to work across wide variety of research topics like education, health, economics and social issues.
  • The apprenticeship is a 4 year programme which allows you to gain real experience working in social research while gaining a bespoke undergraduate degree in social research. The apprenticeship is level 6, and leads to a BSc honours degree with the University of Kent.

      • Facilitating coordination among mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical aspects of water and wastewater projects to ensure a cohesive system design.
      • Preparing and managing the Project Design Programme and reporting of same to the client
      • Overseeing the preparation and execution of commissioning documentation and processes as needed.

      Key Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
      • Minimum of 7 years of experience in water engineering, with a focus on feasibility study, detailed design, planning approvals, procurement, and construction contract administration of water infrastructure projects.
      • 2 years’ experience working on Irish water utility projects for Design-Build Contractors or similar experience working in a client facing role.
      • A thorough understanding of the industry's standards and regulatory requirements.
      • Proven project management abilities, highlighted by the successful management of several projects in tandem.
      • Advanced skills in technical writing.
      • Proficiency in design of water infrastructure projects and analysis software.
      • Strong knowledge of various contract forms for construction contracts.

      About the Role:

      We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer specializing in Wastewater engineering to join our team to work on projects in Ireland and internationally. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, procurement, and construction administration of Wastewater infrastructure projects.

      Key Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Preparation of Feasibility, Route and Site Selections and Concept Design Reports.
      • Preparation of Detailed Designs including detailed design drawings, calculations, and reports.
      • Preparing Technical Specifications and Contract Documents for main works and investigation contracts.
      • Undertaking Tender Evaluation and Procurement processes.
      • Preparation of all documentation required for statutory approvals such as planning permissions and acquiring of land acquisition & wayleaves.
      • Construction stage contract administration.
      • Developing detailed project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
      • Contributing on Wastewater engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered within budget and on schedule.
      • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
      • Providing technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
      • Performing site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, quality, and adherence to specifications.

      • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet project milestones.
