What You’ll Do 

  • Drive technology design, implementation, execution and/or optimization for projects/accounts to accelerate customer outcomes 

  • Assist customers with integration and implementation of tools, systems and service assurance for Cisco technologies  

  • Support presale activities and translate business requirements into solution design  

  • Build customer simulations in test labs to resolve/validate sophisticated problems & compatibility issues  

  • Create and deliver customer collateral, portals, documentation and knowledge transfer   

  • Drive customer technology transitions, influencing solution architectures and services  

  • Align with and support company policies and processes and utilize relevant tools to efficiently execute the role and support Professional Services’ strategies and goals  

  • Play the role of an individual contributor

Role and specific responsibilities 

  • Work extensively with customers along with appropriate internal and external partner (e.g. Cisco account teams, partners) on the strategy /deployment/optimization of Cisco services and solutions 

  • Take leadership role in execution of delivery projects  

  • Improve solutions and methods developed in the field for use to the wider practice 

  • Create, review and approve project work e.g. Design recommendations, High Level Design, Low Level Design, Implementation/ Change Management Plans 

  • Identify avenues for automation ideation; lead and work with team of software programmers to implement automation idea for delivery perfection and efficiency 

  • Acts as a focal point for problem resolution for assigned customer engagements. Assures proper and quick resolution of sophisticated customer problems across a broad range of technologies.

Who You Are 

Expertise 

  • Typically requires BSc Computer Science or equivalent plus 8-12 years of relevant work experience. Advanced degree strongly preferred.  

  • Knowledge of software programmability, automation, orchestration and/or virtualization is desired.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to function in ambiguous circumstances. Possesses customer consulting skills including ability to establish relationships with customers, engineers, managers level & above.  

  • Demonstrates expertise on broad range of technologies and delivery methods.  

  • Experienced in customer facing roles including pre-sales and / or service delivery roles.  

  • Data Centre related certification (CCIE, CCNP VCP, etc.) is preferred and you have a drive for continuous learning 

  • Deep technical knowledge and understandings on L2 / L3 networking protocols and technologies (VPC, STP, HSRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) 

  • Strong Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K platform knowledge and hands on experience 

  • Has knowledge and experience in overlay technologies VXLAN, BGP EVPN, OTV, LISP.  

  • Cisco ACI, SDN, NFV products and Cisco Cloud product portfolios but not limited to Cisco InterSight, Cloud Centre, Cisco UCS Director and Cisco Programmable Network Portfolio using DCNM 

  • Experience in designing data centre solutions from traditional DC standalone Nexus design to VXLAN Fabric based SDN solutions leveraging Single-Site Fabrics, ACI MultiPod & Multisite Fabric architectures. 

  • Familiar with virtualization and container environments (VMware, Microsoft, Kubernetes) and have technical exposure in integrating ACI with virtualization platforms through VMM integration. 

  • Technical understanding and experience in designing data center solutions involving network services appliances (Firewalls, IPS, load balancers, WAN optimizer appliances) from network integration perspective.  

  • Technical knowledge and understandings on cloud computing involving multiple cloud providers like AWS, Azure, Google. 

  • Cisco Automation and orchestration products such as Network Services Orchestrator, UCS Director, Enterprise cloud suite, Cloud Centre, Cisco's OpenStack implementation is a plus. 

  • Knowledge on any one or more tools like Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation etc will be an advantage 

  • Knowledge on Python, Ansible etc. is highly desirable. 

Leadership / Autonomy  

  • Receives limited supervision. Resolves methods and procedures on new assignments. Provides guidance and mentoring to other engineers. Translates worldwide team goals into own work assignments.  

  • Mentor and develop others. Involved in strategic projects with high visibility. The emphasis is on complexity, active participant/initiator and leader.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
