Associate Creative Director, Copy

Do you like candy and gum and ice cream and dogs and cats? If you’re nodding, and you’re into coming up with bold ideas that make an impact, then you could be a great ACD on our creative team at Weber Shandwick. We’re looking for an idea-generating, out-of-the-box thinking copywriter to join or award-winning team. We’re in the business of making our client’s brands famous, with in-culture work that makes a mark and gets people talking. Think shoes you can unwrap like a candy bar. Chewed gum auctioned off as must-have necklaces. A Postmates pop-up restaurant for pups. You get the gist.

The brands and briefs run the gamut. You’ll lead ideation and work hand-in-hand with our creative teams to craft breakthrough ideas that demand attention out in the world. Point is, you’ll be a doer AND a driver that pushes the work forward. And you’ll probably also need to talk, sell, and be kind to clients. They’re pretty nice.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Developing and delivering creative ideas that make our clients and their brands famous
  • Generating breakthrough work that can live across platforms – and inspiring others to do the same
  • Backing up your work with smart, strategic choices
  • Guiding, teaching and mentoring junior members of the creative team
  • Staying looped with your CD for temp checks, alignment, and guidance
  • Questioning, pushing, and providing feedback on briefs and asks with our Strategy, Client Experience, and Integrated Media teams

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a creative role with experience managing a creative team (advertising, digital, social media, publishing/content or public relations)
  • Must be self-motivated, hard working, well-organized, thick skinned and resilient to ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables; must not be afraid to confront problems
  • Ongoing drive to understand emerging techniques, cultural trends and philosophies in marketing, technology, earned ideas and social media
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities, internal and externally
  • A clear understanding of what an “earned idea” is
  • Strong ability to provide clear creative perspective and timely, helpful feedback to improve creative processes and to keep work on budget/schedule; be aware of your deadlines and how to get there
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs
  • Proven mentoring and team-building skills
  • Experience leading creative for large brands is preferred
