We are looking for you:

Position of Doctoral Student at the Chair of English Literature (focus: Early Modern English Literature) (m/f/x)

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Individual research and publication projects with the opportunity to work on a doctoral thesis
  • Participation in the research and publication activities of the Chair
  • Preparation and organisation of conferences and research projects, as well as support to the Chair with administrative tasks
  • Conducting teaching sessions (2,5 hours per week) in the English Literature Studies programs
  • Conducting exams and contribution to the development of study modules
  • Work in the Shakespeare Research Library.

Your qualifications:

  • Above-average degree in the fields of English Literature and/or Comparative Literature
  • Research interests in English Literature from the late Middle Ages to the present; expertise in the fields of late Medieval and Early Modern Literature, Shakespeare Studies, Modernity, Literary Theory and Aesthetics is welcome.
  • Interest in the library system and preferably relevant experience
  • If necessary, willingness to undergo training in library responsibilities
  • Excellent command of English as well as a sound knowledge of at least one more modern language; basic knowledge of Latin is welcome
  • Good organizational skills
  • Pedagogical skills; preferably academic teaching experience
  • An outline (ca. 5 pages) of your doctoral research project in English should be included in the application
