Theory postdoc position in open many-body systems

(full-time, E 13 TV-L)

Reference no.: 2024/097. The start date is Nov 1st, 2024 or by agreement. The position is available initially for two years. In principle, this position can be divided into two part-time positions.

The AG Zilberberg Group at the University of Konstanz is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in strong correlations in open systems. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative and interdisciplinary research at the meeting points between out-of-equilibrium and many-body physics. The working language is English.

Your Responsibilities

  • Analyze the impact of an open system on quantum critical effects in mesoscopics. Examples include the realization of the Kondo effect using quantum computers in the NISQ era, or Kane-Fisher impurity in open quantum wires

Your Competencies

  • Candidates must hold a PhD in Physics with a focus on field theoretical tools and/or computational physics in many-body solid state
  • Experience in bosonization, Keldysh action and Tensor networks is a plus
  • We search for originality in research, as well as proven research experience, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
