Are you passionate about horticulture and ready to take on an exciting challenge in sales? We're seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Technical Area Sales Manager for Professional Horticulture in the UK. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing, developing, and growing sales of our ICL branded fertilizer, plant protection products, and growing media within a defined geographical area. You'll work closely with Grower and Distributor accounts, collaborating with local distributor sales personnel and our technical and marketing colleagues to achieve sales and margin targets.

 

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Achieve Sales Targets: Drive sales growth by achieving budgeted/target sales of all product lines.
  • Provide Technical Support: Offer technical backup in case of product complaints and liaise with Technical Managers or customers when necessary.
  • Forecast and Budgeting: Assist in the forecast and budget process for ICL products as appropriate.
  • Budget Management: Operate within allocated expenditure budgets.
  • Account and Dealer Management: Work closely with Distributors and their sales teams to ensure full sales, technical, and promotional support to maximize product sales.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain close contact with end-users to sell the full ICL range, provide technical support, and strengthen the company profile.
  • Market Analysis: Identify and report on competitor ctivity and potential new product development opportunities.
  • New Business Development: Identify and obtain new business opportunities to expand market presence.
  • Product Trials: Coordinate and run trials for new products, communicate findings, and progress ideas for new product development programs.
  • Technical Input: Provide input for technical product articles for publications and websites in collaboration with the marketing department.
  • CRM Management: Implement, update, and maintain customer records on the ICL CRM platform.

 

About you

  • Education: Must have a recognized horticultural qualification and be BASIS and FACTS registered.
  • Experience: At least two years' selling experience in horticultural or related markets, or experience in a technical growing role. Knowledge of Professional Horticulture and Specialty Agriculture markets is essential. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, and a strong desire to succeed are required.
